From Teaching to Real Estate Brokerage: How I Found My Passion and Built a Thriving Business

I didn’t wake up one day and think, “Hey, I want to start a real estate brokerage!” Nope, not at all. In fact, I graduated with a degree in education and had dreams of becoming a principal and beyond – you know, big shot at the district level and all that. But let’s be real, I just wanted to be the boss and have a positive influence on those around me. Teaching wasn’t my thing, though, so I packed up my Honda Civic with only a few bags of clothes and drove 17 hours to Newport Beach, CA. Scary, right? But it turned out to be the best decision I ever made. That’s where I found myself and discovered my passion for real estate. Or maybe real estate found me? We can discuss that later!

After a few years with a brokerage, I decided to start my own and now on a mission to help other agents thrive. Let me tell you, I made a ton of mistakes. Like, SO MANY mistakes. But you know what they say – you learn from your failures and I definitely learned a lot. Now, as I’m gearing up to launch Widmer Homes and bring on more agents to join our vision and community, I couldn’t be happier. Building a company from scratch is hard work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. I wake up every day grateful for the opportunity to grow, challenge myself, and help others.
